Lionel Chetwynd has over 40 feature and long-form television credits and has written, produced, and directed over 21 documentaries. He has received both Oscar and Emmy nominations, anACTRA Award, two Genie Nominations, six Writers Guild of America nominations including an award, the New York Film Festival Gold Medal, two Christophers, two George Washington Freedom Medals, and six Telly Awards. He has received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane letters from Columbia College (Hollywood), is a recipient of the Caucus of Writers, Directors and Producers Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Smithsonian John Singleton Copley Medal. The trade paper Variety’s 100 anniversary edition named him one of Hollywood’s 100 icons of the first century. From 2001 to 2009, he served on the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities. Lionel is married to actress Gloria Carlin and has two sons.
